Steve Kmak of Disturbed

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Steve "Fuzz" Kmak (born September 5, 1970) is an American bass guitar player, best known for his work with the heavy metal band Disturbed.

Kmak founded the band Brawl in 1994 with guitarist Dan Donegan and drummer Mike Wengren. They played small clubs in Chicago before singer David Draiman answered their ad, after which they changed the band name to Disturbed. They then produced their first studio album The Sickness, released in 2000.

Before joining Marilyn Manson's 2001 European tour, Kmak was unable to play with the band due to a shattered ankle, caused by falling out of a fire escape outside Disturbed's rehearsal hall in Chicago.

He took the fire escape to exit the building while the elevator was being used to move their equipment downstairs. After a successful operation, doctors highly recommended that Kmak skip the tour to avoid more severe damage to his foot. But he did perform with the band on January 11 and 12, 2001 at Disturbed's show in Chicago. During the European tour Marty O'Brien replaced Kmak until he was able to tour again.

In 2002, the band released Believe, which would prove to be the last album with Kmak.

In 2003, after finishing the Music as a Weapon II Tour, Kmak left the group due to "personal differences" between him and David. He was replaced with John Moyer, who is the current bass player.

In December 2011 David Draiman was asked via Twitter why Kmak was fired from the band. According to Draiman, Fuzz was fired because of his "jealousy" and being "willing to sink the ship we were all sailing on, for spite".

Fuzz currently lives in Chicago, with his wife and two children. The wife's name is Adrianna and the two kids are Gianna (girl) and Alexander (boy)

Mike Wengren of Disturbed

Mike Wengren (born September 3, 1971) is a drummer from Chicago, Illinois, best known for his work with the heavy metal band Disturbed, he is one of the founding members of the band, which was formed in 1996. He is well known for his hard hitting bass drum techniques that have become a staple of Disturbed's music.

Born and raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Wengren has been playing drums since around the age of 10, when he took some lessons for about a month but didn’t begin to take his drumming seriously until the age of 15.

He has been quoted as saying that Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Testament, Mötley Crüe, Pantera and Racer X were his strongest influences.

On August 31, 2005 he proposed to his girlfriend onstage. Before the set closer, frontman David Draiman handed the microphone to Wengren, who explained how he's spent a lot of time in Milwaukee recently and how he met his girlfriend here. He then invited her onstage and proposed marriage to her.

In recent years, he has appeared in advertisements for Pearl Drums, since the Masters Series was his first professional kit purchased from Midwest Percussion the early 90's. Wengren uses Evans Hydraulic Glass drumheads on all toms and EQ heads on both bass drums. He has also been added to the Vater Signature line of drumsticks, which now has the Mike Wengren model. Additionally, he uses Sabian cymbals.

His previous tour kit was a 'cranberry fade' Pearl MRX Masters Series drumset with black hardware. Wengren's tour kit in support of the album Ten Thousand Fists was a 'vintage sunburst' variation of the same drumset, also with black hardware.

Wengren is currently pursuing a side project band, Fight or Flight, in collaboration with Disturbed member Dan Donegan.

John Moyer of Disturbed

John Moyer (born November 30, 1973) is an American musician, best known as the current bassist and back-up vocalist for the heavy metal band Disturbed. Taking over in 2004 after Steve "Fuzz" Kmak was fired, Moyer has played bass with the group since their third studio album, Ten Thousand Fists. Moyer was also the bassist for the American supergroup Adrenaline Mob, joining in February 2012, and remained with the band until August 2014.

Moyer was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Coronado High School. Moyer was formerly part of the Texas hard rock act The Union Underground. Prior to his stint in The Union Underground, he was the bassist of the popular band Soak, also hailing from Texas. He is the owner and teaches at Natural Ear Music in Austin, Texas, where he works with a lot of young bands. Moyer works in partnership with Silver Tongue Management.

While he is still capable of playing finger-style, Moyer prefers picking over the latter because it has a more aggressive feeling.

On February 8, 2012, it was announced that Moyer joined the supergroup Adrenaline Mob while Disturbed is on hiatus.

On April 19, 2013, Moyer was announced to be filling in for Rudy Sarzo on bass for five tour dates in Geoff Tate's lineup formed after his dismissal from Queensrÿche.

On May 14, 2014, Moyer was involved in a tour bus accident while on tour with Adrenaline Mob supporting Avenged Sevenfold. No serious injuries were sustained by any of the band-members.

On August 4, 2014, Moyer announced that he would not be joining Adrenaline Mob for their upcoming fall tours. As a result, the band began looking for a new bassist, thus ending Moyer's tenure with the band.

In January 2015, Moyer formed a new band with Scott Weiland, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, twins Jon and Vince Votta entitled Art of Anarchy, with an album set to release in Spring 2015.

Moyer had a custom line with Traben bass company. He and the company produced his signature Traben Havoc. He also has custom amps with Kustom featuring his own design printed on the front resembling a skull engulfed in flames.

Recently, Moyer has signed an endorsement deal with BC Rich Guitars, who now manufacture Moyer's signature Havoc bass. They can do this because they are owned by the same holding company as Traben.

In 2014,Moyer has been seen with some Spector bass models like Euro LX5.

Dan Donegan of Disturbed

Dan Donegan (born August 1, 1968) is an American musician and guitarist for heavy metal band Disturbed. Donegan began playing guitar as a teenager and eventually formed a band called Vandal, which was an '80s-style hair band.He also played with some of the members of Vandal in another band that was called Loudmouth. Donegan was added to the guitar show "Chop Shop's" list of "Top 100 Most Complete Guitar Players of All Time" at number 76. Donegan is currently pursuing a side project band, Fight or Flight in collaboration with Disturbed band member Mike Wengren.

Donegan had very long hair during the early days of Brawl and Disturbed.

According to Disturbed's DVD titled M.O.L., Donegan got a job with his father doing construction work. He was required to cut his hair for it, but instead opted to wear a wig to fool his dad and keep his long hair. It worked, and his dad eventually let him keep his long hair.

Donegan has a daughter named Maya and a son named Justin.

Donegan is a self-taught guitarist.

He uses one handed and two handed tapping in many of his solos, with pull-offs, legatos and hammer-ons, also sometimes using the "flick off" technique, as used in the solo for the song "Indestructible", and in others as well. His heavy riffs and sweep picking are seen in many music videos. He uses his DigiTech Dan Donegan, "The Weapon" for many effects in and out of his solo work. He also combines arpeggios with finger tapping and many other techniques. He is known for shredding in some songs and uses finger vibrato on occasion. He uses the whammy bar in many songs to give it a certain sound effect.

In the video "The Making of Indestructible", he mentions he prefers "tasteful" solos, as opposed to shredding solos that rely primarily on speed. Disturbed's frontman David Draiman mentions "he [Donegan] can rip with the best of them". David also mentions "He's [Donegan] in my opinion you know among the best in existence, and he doesn't give himself enough credit". In the 80's, he was in a hair metal band known as Vandal, where many of his solos were shred guitar solos, but he would incorporate other techniques, which many consider his own style of playing.

David Draiman of Disturbed

David Michael Draiman (born March 13, 1973) is an American songwriter and the lead singer for the heavy metal band Disturbed as well as for the band Device. Draiman is known for his distorted voice and percussive singing style. In November 2006, Draiman was voted number 42 on the Hit Parader’s "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time".
Draiman has written some of Disturbed's most successful singles, such as "Stupify", "Down with the Sickness", "Indestructible", and "Inside the Fire".

In October 2011, Disturbed entered a hiatus. Draiman announced in the following year that he was working on an industrial rock/metal project with Geno Lenardo, formerly of Filter, which was later named Device.

Draiman was born in Brooklyn, New York in the United States to Yehuda and Miriam Draiman, Israeli-Americans, on 13 March 1973.

His father, Yehuda "Y. J." Draiman, was a mechanical engineer, healthcare administrator, small-business owner, member of the Northridge East Neighborhood Council, among other roles, and is completing a Ph.D. in energy conservation.

Y. J. Draiman ran a political campaign for mayor of Los Angeles in 2013, but was not successful.

Draiman's brother, Benjamin (performing professionally as Ben Draiman), is a ambient/folk rock musician who lives in Israel and performs in Jerusalem. Benjamin is also a psychologist.Draiman's grandmother also lives in Israel.

Although his parents were not then observant, religious Jews (dati), they intended for Draiman to receive semikhah, and Draiman frequently spent time in Israel during his early life.

Draiman attended five Jewish day schools, including Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Valley Torah High School in Los Angeles, California, where he formed his first band; and Fasman Yeshiva High School in Chicago, Illinois.

During his freshman year at Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study, he was requested to leave, as he "rebelled against the conformity" and "just wanted to be a normal teenage kid", adding that he "couldn't really stomach the rigorous religious requirements of the life [there]"

Of his study at Jewish day schools, Draiman states that he "was a bit resentful"; but, he later prompted his family to commence observing Shabbat and he was trained as a hazan.

Draiman later enrolled at Ida Crown Jewish Academy in Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated from high school in 1991.

From there, in 1991–1992, he spent a year after high school studying at the Yeshivas Neveh Zion in Kiryat Ye'arim, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Israel.

After returning to the US, in 1992, Draiman commenced pre-law studies at Loyola University Chicago.

In 1996, he graduated the university with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government, Philosophy, and Business Administration.

Initially considering taking up offers to matriculate and study at law school, Draiman realised that, although criminal defense law was the only area of law that interested him, he could not "really look at myself in the mirror and say I'm going to lie for a living and protect criminals".

During his university studies, Draiman also worked as a bank teller and in phone sales.

After graduating from university, Draiman commenced working as an administrative assistant in a healthcare facility.

After his first year, he had earned an administrator's licence and commenced running his own healthcare facility.

For five years before his joining Disturbed and the band's signing with Giant Records, Draiman was a healthcare administrator.

On 25 September 2011, Draiman married ex-WWE Diva Lena Yada and as of 2013 Lena was pregnant with their first child, a son. According to Draiman on Device's official Facebook page, on September 12, 2013, at 12:58 AM, David and Lena's son, Samuel Bear Isamu Draiman, was born after 29 hours of labor. Also on Device's Facebook page, David wrote, "Both mother and child are healthy and well. I thank the powers that be for this greatest of gifts."

In an interview with Playboy UK, Draiman revealed that he lost his virginity when he was 12 years old. When Draiman was 16 years old, his girlfriend committed suicide. Draiman later wrote a song about the experience, titled "Inside the Fire", which appeared on the 2008 album Indestructible.

Draiman is proficient in Hebrew.

Draiman is of Jewish ancestry but does not partake in Judaism. In 2010, Draiman expressed Deistic views in a YouTube interview while rejecting organized religion of any kind.

Draiman politically identifies as a libertarian.

Draiman has expressed dissatisfaction with rock musicians who collect Nazi memorabilia saying, "I don't give a fuck who you are. If you're going to brandish Nazi symbolism, I'm going to have a problem with you because I don't understand how anybody could think it's OK to wear something on their body that symbolizes the annihilation and genocide of my people. I'm not OK with that and there is no excuse and there is no explanation".

Draiman wrote the song "Never Again" (on the album Asylum) "about the Holocaust and the people who deny it, like Ahmadinejad. And part of our live show includes a video presentation depicting him as the new Hitler."

The United States Holocaust Museum featured Draiman in their "Voices on Antisemitism — A Podcast Series" show.

In July 2013, Draiman urged all of his followers on Twitter to condemn Roger Waters, who released a giant pig balloon with a Star of David emblazoned on it at his concert in Belgium on July 18.

Draiman has full support for the state of Israel and its actions in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Ten Thousand Fists is the third studio album by American metal band Disturbed. It was released on September 20, 2005 and became Disturbed's second consecutive number 1 debut on the Billboard 200 in the United States, shipping around 239,000 copies in its opening week. It has been certified Platinum by the RIAA and was also the band's second number 1 release in New Zealand. It is also the first Disturbed album to not have the Parental Advisory label.

Ten Thousand Fists marks the first album with bassist John Moyer who replaced Steve Kmak following his dismissal in 2003. However, he was considered a session musician during the time of recording, and only became a full-time member during the tour supporting the album.[3] It would be the band's third and final collaboration with mainstay producer Johnny K. The album is also the first in which Disturbed's mascot, The Guy, appears on the album cover. He would later appear full-bodied in the music video for "Land of Confusion".

Ten Thousand Fists is, as of 2010, Disturbed's second highest selling album in the United States, with sales of around 1.9 million copies. The Sickness, the band's debut CD, has shifted sales of almost 4.2 million copies in the United States. The album was dedicated to Dimebag Darrell who was murdered the year before.

Believe debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart,[1] making it Disturbed's first number 1 debut, shipping over 284,000 copies in its first week. It was certified double platinum by the RIAA in the United States on September 23, 2008.

The album contains three successful singles and focuses heavily on religious and spiritual themes inspired by recent tragedies. With greater emphases on melodic dynamics, it also demonstrates a broadening in Disturbed's musical range compared to the heavy onslaught of their debut album. Believe was the last album to feature Steve "Fuzz" Kmak on bass, who was dismissed from the band in 2003.

The album peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart and it has spent a total of 103 weeks on that chart, as of June 2010. Disturbed

Disturbed is an American metal band from Chicago, Illinois. The band's members are vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer, and drummer Mike Wengren. Former band members are bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak and vocalist Erich Awalt.

Formed in 1994 as Brawl, the band was renamed Disturbed in 1996 after Draiman was hired as the band's new vocalist. Between the band's formation and 2008, they sold over 20 million albums worldwide, making them one of the largest grossing metal/rock bands in recent years. The band has released five studio albums, four of which have consecutively debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200. Disturbed went into an indefinite hiatus in October 2011 and the band's members are currently working on various side projects. The band members insist that they will regroup as Disturbed again sometime in the future.

Before vocalist David Draiman joined Disturbed, they were known as Brawl. Brawl's lineup consisted of vocalist Erich Awalt, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak. Before changing their name to "Brawl", however, Donegan mentioned in the band's DVD, Decade of Disturbed, that the name was originally going to be "Crawl"; they switched it to "Brawl", due to the name already being used by another band.

Awalt left the band shortly after the recording of a demo tape; the other three members advertised for a singer. They posted an advertisement in the local music publication in Chicago, Illinois, called the "Illinois Entertainer". Draiman answered the advertisement after going to twenty other auditions that month.

After renaming the band, Disturbed went on to record two 3-track demo tapes, the first having the demos for "The Game", "Down with the Sickness", and "Meaning of Life", with the second having the demos for "Want", "Stupify", and "Droppin' Plates". The artwork was composed of the band's recently created mascot, The Guy. The band eventually signed with Giant Records. In 2000, the band released its debut album, titled The Sickness, which launched the band into stardom. The album peaked at number twenty-nine on Billboard 200. and it has sold over four million copies in the United States since its release.

After Disturbed finished the Music as a Weapon II tour, Steve Kmak was fired by the band because of "personality differences". He was replaced by John Moyer, who is now the current bass player.

Disturbed's third studio album, Ten Thousand Fists, was released on September 20, 2005. The album debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200, while also selling around 238,000 copies in the week following its release. The album was certified platinum, shipping 1,000,000 units, in the United States on January 5, 2006.

In July 2011, the band confirmed it would go on hiatus after finishing their US tour that year, and in an interview that same month, Draiman dismissed concerns that the upcoming hiatus was a result of conflict between the band members.Disturbed went into hiatus in October 2011.

Classified as a heavy metal, or hard rock band, Disturbed is also regarded by some critics as nu metal, and alternative metal.
