Vertical Horizon is an American alternative rock band formed at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1991. The band is best known for a string of hits in 1999 and early 2000s, including "You're a God", "Everything You Want", and "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)". Their most recent album, Burning the Days, was released in late 2009."Save Me From Myself” was the first single.

Vertical Horizon was formed in 1991 by Georgetown University undergrads Matthew Scannell and Keith Kane.

In 1992, after graduation from Georgetown, the duo relocated to Boston and self-released their debut album There and Back Again, which was recorded in Matt's old high school, Deerfield Academy, over a period of a few weeks. Scannell and Kane split songwriting and lead vocal duties.

Vertical Horizon's indie albums began to attract record executives from several record labels during the late 1990s. The band signed with RCA Records in 1998.

Alan White of Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Alan White (born 26 May 1972) is an English drummer, best known as being the drummer of the English rock group Oasis between 1995 and 2004. He is the longest serving drummer in the band's history, performing on four studio albums, two compilation albums and one live album during his tenure. He joined the band in May 1995 after the band's original drummer Tony McCarroll was removed from the band. He was recommended to Noel Gallagher by Gallagher's friend Paul Weller. Notably, Alan's brother Steve has been longtime drummer for Weller. White left the band in early 2004 in somewhat unclear circumstances. He was replaced in Oasis by Zak Starkey, drummer of The Who and son of The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr.

At the time of his departure White was the longest-serving member in Oasis beside the Gallaghers (he has since been passed by Andy Bell) and passed through thin and thick with the brothers despite being struck down several times with bouts of alleged tendinitis during his later years with the band.

White married model Liz Atkins on 13 August 1997 at Studley Priory Hotel, Oxfordshire. He had met her on the set of the "Don't Look Back in Anger" music video. The couple divorced in 2000.

In early 2004, White surprisingly left Oasis during the early recording sessions for the band's sixth album. According to Oasis' spokesperson there were some new tracks and demos with White's performance as well, which were made at the end 2003 and early 2004 at the very first demos for their upcoming album, before his departure.

In a recent interview, Noel Gallagher alluded to White's personal problems: "He's a fucking great guy and he's one of the best drummers I've ever met in my life, but his personal life is fucking chaos. In the end he fucked off and we haven't seen him since."

In an interview on Radio 1 with Chris Moyles (15 August 2008) Noel Gallagher stated that White was "kicked out" of the band.

There is also evidence to suggest that White was upset that his drums were going down so low in the mix on top of the prevalence of drum loops ("Go Let It Out", "Gas Panic!", "The Hindu Times", "Better Man", "Force Of Nature"). On one Q&A with Freddie Gee, he had said: "Well, I don't like that my drums get turned down with each successive mix we do of an album, but one mustn't grumble in this band".

In March 2007, the remaining members of Oasis paid White £348,000 to buy him out of their company "Definitely Maybe". Since his departure, White has remained out of the spotlight and he has no familiar drumming occupations at the moment. He currently resides in London. His brother Steve has explained lately in his website that Alan "is just having a nice time, he has pursued other interests in business".

Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan of Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Paul McGuigan (born 9 May 1971), better known by his nickname, Guigsy (pronounced "Gwigzee"), is an English musician and one of the four founding members of the English rock band Oasis. He was the group's bassist from 1991 to 1999.

McGuigan left Oasis in 1999. Noel Gallagher claims he quit via fax and avoided phone calls from the Gallaghers in the following weeks. Though he eventually gave up trying to contact him by phone, Noel claims to bear no malice towards McGuigan.

McGuigan presently lives in Mill Hill NW7 with his wife and son. He occasionally performs as a DJ. He declined to appear in the 2004 Definitely Maybe DVD, though a polite letter explaining his reasons for doing so appears as a hidden extra, along with a short segment with pundits giving their views on him.

A lifelong sports fan, McGuigan especially loves football. He is a supporter of Manchester City F.C. Whilst still with Oasis, he and journalist Paolo Hewitt wrote a book about football player Robin Friday, entitled The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw (ISBN 1-85158-909-0). McGuigan was renowned for his encyclopaedic knowledge of football and cricket. In an interview for a BBC Radio 1 documentary in 1995, McGuigan described his favourite magazine as being FourFourTwo.

Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs of Oasis

Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (born 23 June 1965) is an English musician and one of the founding members of the English rock band Oasis, best known as their rhythm guitar player from 1991-1999.
Arthurs left school in 1981 and worked as a plasterer. He started his first band in 1984, called Pleasure and Pain. Around this time he began a relationship with Kate, whom he later married. In the late 1980s, while working as a building contractor, he started a band with his friends, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass), Tony McCarroll (drums) and Chris Hutton (vocals). They called themselves 'The Rain', after The Beatles' B-side, "Rain".

Arthurs left the band in 1999, during the recording of Oasis' fourth album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. In his official statement he claimed he wanted to spend more time with his family (his first child, Lucy was born 23 January 1995 and his son, Jude Arthurs was born on 12 August 1997).

Arthurs now lives in Manchester where he has built a recording studio under his house and formed Moondog One (named after 'Johnny and the Moondogs', one of the Beatles' former titles before they rose to fame), which also includes The Smiths' Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke.

Andy Bell of Oasis

Andrew Piran "Andy" Bell (born 11 August 1970) is a British musician, currently playing guitar in the band Beady Eye. He is a songwriter, singer, producer, DJ and former member of the early 1990s shoegazing band, Ride, and later, Hurricane #1. He is also well known as the bass guitarist for the British rock band Oasis.

Bell was previously married to Swedish singer Idha Ovelius. They have two children, a daughter, Leia, and a son, Leon. He currently resides in London and is married to Shiarra, a label rep from Universal Music. Bell revealed in an interview that he suffers from deafness in his left ear as a result of standing too close to Alan White's drumkit whilst playing bass during his first tour with Oasis.

Gem Archer of Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

full name: Colin Murray Archer

nickname: Gem. He got his nickname, he says, because his last name is Archer and there used to be a famous Scottish footballer in the 1970's named Archie Gemmill. He was nine at the time and the name just stuck. Do not pronounce it "Jem" like a diamond; it's Gem with a hard G, like GOD

birthday: Here there's a big problem!, most of the people thinks that Gem's birthday it's on the 29th May 1967 (like Noel), but Gem does not share his birthday with Noel. As a matter of fact he was born 7th December 1966 which is why he said he was the oldest member of Oasis in an interview!

sign: Sagittarius

birth place: Hunwich, County Durham, England

marital status: Married to Lou, with a son Joel (d.o.b. 10th Aug. 1996) and a daughter Libby

lives: London

role in oasis: Gem is officially referred to as Oasis' rythym guitarist, but in reality he and Noel split many of the lead parts so that Noel can concentrate on his singing. With the release of "Heathen Chemistry" we can see how a great songwriter Gem is, his song "Hung In A Bad Place" it's my fave with Little by Little on the album !!!

since: 1999, Gem's first gig with Oasis was on 3rd December 1999 in Philadelphia, PA, the new Oasis line-up featuring Gem and Andy play live in the UK for the first time at the BBC TV studios in White City, West London on the 19th February 2000

band before oasis: Whirlpool and Heavy Stereo

facts:

* His favorite Oasis song is Shakermaker. "To me it's the essence of what Oasis is about," he enthuses

* Gem's favourite song of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants is Sunday Morning Call

* One of Gem's first responsibilities as a member of Oasis was to appear in the video for Go Let It Out

* So by now you probably know that both Gem and Andy are the two vegetarians in Oasis

* Gem has said that if he could have one superhuman power it would be to fly

* At any given moment at an Oasis gig you can look over at Gem and catch him singing along with Liam and Noel!

* Gem was the art director for Proud Mary's debut album The Same Old Blues

* Gem favourites films are: The Godfather, Jaws, Unforgiven, Serpico and Toy Story

* Gem favourites bands are: The Beatles and Plush

* Gem's NOT a football fan ("I'm not a football-man" he said this on the 23rd Nov. 2002)

* When asked what cartoon character Gem was most like, Noel said Scooby Doo

Noel Gallagher of Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Noel Gallagher was born in Manchester, England, on May 29, 1967, and experienced an unhappy childhood due to poverty and an abusive father. In 1991 he joined his brother Liam’s band, which evolved into the alternative rock band Oasis.
Known for his altercations with Liam, Noel left Oasis in 2009. He emerged as a solo artist in 2011 with his debut album, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
His father was Thomas Gallagher, and his mother was Peggy Gallagher. Gallagher grew up with siblings Paul Anthony, 18 months older, and William (Liam) John, five years his junior.
Paul and Noel stammered, eliciting hits from their angry father. Both boys required four years of speech therapy to conquer their stammering.
At age 15 Noel was expelled for throwing a bag of flour over a teacher.
When Noel was 17, his mother left his father and took all three boys with her. Noel maintained contact with his father.
Noel left to work for a gas company. There he suffered a work accident that crushed the bones in his left foot.
Noel decided to take more control over the band, setting up Big Brother Recordings to distribute Oasis in the U.K. He formed his own label, Sour Mash Records, in 2001 and debuted as a record producer for bands such as Proud Mary.
Noel quit Oasis in 2009. "We were backstage waiting to go onstage to 30,000 people in Paris," Noel said in a NPR interview. "The tour manager came in and said, 'Five minutes!' We broke up within that five minutes. I'm not proud of that, but all things come to an end." Liam then changed the band’s name to Beady Eye, and Noel embarked on a solo career.
Noel Gallagher moved out of his mother’s home when he was 22 years old to live with his girlfriend, Louise Jones. They dated for six years, until 1994. In 1997, Noel married interior designer Meg Matthews in Las Vegas. Meg and Noel's daughter, Anais, was born in 2000, but they divorced in 2001, reportedly due to Noel's alleged affair with Scottish publicist Sara MacDonald.
Noel and MacDonald have two children together: Donovan, born in 2007, and Sonny, born in 2010. The couple was married in June 2011, with Noel’s close friend Russell Brand serving as best man.

Don't Believe the Truth Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Don't Believe the Truth is the sixth studio album by English rock band Oasis, released on 30 May 2005. It reached number 1 in the UK Albums Chart with first week sales of just under 238,000, and is the 32nd fastest selling album ever in the UK. The album entered the US charts at number 12, with 65,000 copies sold in the first week, the highest any Oasis album had reached there since 1997's Be Here Now, although its chart stay was brief. Don't Believe the Truth went triple platinum in the UK in the first week of 2006 (900,000+ sales), and in the US has sold more than 200,000 copies.

Every member of the band contributed to the writing of tracks for the album, and the album is the first where all duties were divided between the band members. On some of the tracks regular bass player Andy Bell handled guitar, while Gem Archer and Noel Gallagher contributed bass to other songs. Don't Believe the Truth is the first Oasis record to feature the drumming of Zak Starkey, who replaced Oasis' longtime drummer Alan White.

Liam Gallagher also had a larger impact on the album by his developing songwriting. Noel has said that this album is his favourite of Oasis' last four, because all members have contributed to it. This, he claims, has given it a different feel from a typically Noel-written Oasis album.

The band embarked on a massive worldwide tour that started off at the London Astoria for their Don't Believe the Truth Tour, visiting 26 countries and playing to 3.2 million people at a total of 113 concerts. This resulted in the making of Lord Don't Slow Me Down, a film later released on DVD.To date the album has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.

Heathen Chemistry Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Oasis, released in 2002 through Big Brother Records.

The album was written and recorded with a back-to-basics sound with a more rock feel to it; the more crude and simple sound differs from the musical grandiosity of their previous records, Be Here Now and Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, being more comparable to their early work.[citation needed]

Heathen Chemistry would prove to be last album to feature the band's longtime drummer, Alan White, who left in early 2004, with Noel Gallagher claiming White's commitment to the band was not adequate. He was effectively replaced with Ringo Starr's son, Zak Starkey.

The name Heathen Chemistry was taken from a second hand T-shirt that Noel had stumbled across.

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is the fourth studio album by English rock band Oasis, released on 28 February 2000. The album is the 16th fastest selling album in UK chart history, selling over 310,000 copies in its first week. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants has been certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry and has sold around 208,000 copies in the US. Despite becoming their fourth number-one album in the UK, it is currently the band's lowest selling album to date.

In 1999, the year preceding the final release of this album, Alan McGee closed Creation Records and Oasis had lost two founding members (Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan) and hired a new producer (Mark Stent) to replace Owen Morris.

The album is an effective modern psychedelic record complete with drum loops, samples, electric sitar, mellotron, synthesizers and backward guitars, resulting in an album more experimental with electronica and heavy psychedelic rock influences. Songs such as "Go Let It Out", the Indian-influenced "Who Feels Love?", and the progressive "Gas Panic!" were a departure from the band's earlier style. "Fuckin' in the Bushes" has been considered to be the closest Oasis have come to hard rock with Led Zeppelin style riffs.

Be Here Now Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Be Here Now is the third studio album by English rock band Oasis, released in August 1997. The album was highly anticipated by both music critics and fans after the band's worldwide success with their 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, and its 1995 follow-up, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. Be Here Now's pre-release build up led to considerable hype within both the music and mainstream press. At that point, Oasis were at the height of their fame, and Be Here Now became the United Kingdom's fastest selling album to date, selling over 350,000 units on the first day of release. As of 2008, the album had sold eight million copies worldwide.

Oasis' management company Ignition were aware of the dangers of overexposure, and before its release sought to control the media's access to the album. Ignition's campaign included limiting pre-release radio airplay, and requesting that journalists sign gag agreements. These tactics resulted in the alienation of members of both the music and mainstream media, as well as many industry personnel connected with the band. Ignition's attempts to limit pre-release access served to fuel large scale speculation and publicity within the British music scene.

Although initial reviews were positive, retrospectively the album is viewed by much of the music press, the public, and by most members of the band as over-indulgent and bloated. In 2007, Q magazine, having given the album a five-star rave review on its release, described the fact that Be Here Now is often thought of as "a disastrous, overblown folly—the moment when Oasis, their judgement clouded by drugs and blanket adulation, ran aground on their own sky-high self-belief." The album's producer Owen Morris said of the recording sessions: "The only reason anyone was there was the money. Noel had decided Liam was a shit singer. Liam had decided he hated Noel's songs [...] Massive amounts of drugs. Big fights. Bad vibes. Shit recordings."

(What's the Story) Morning Glory? Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(What's the Story) Morning Glory? is the second studio album by the English rock band Oasis, released on 2 October 1995 on Creation Records. It was produced by Owen Morris and the group's guitarist Noel Gallagher. The structure and arrangement style of the album were a significant departure from the group's previous record Definitely Maybe. Noel Gallagher's compositions were more focused in balladry and placed more emphasis on "huge" choruses, with the string arrangements and more varied instrumentation on the record contrasting with the rawness of the group's debut album.

The record propelled Oasis from being a crossover indie act to a worldwide rock phenomenon, and according to music critics, it was a significant record in the timeline of British indie music. The band's most commercially successful release, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? sold a record-breaking 347,000 copies in its first week on sale, spent 10 weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, and reached number four in the US Billboard 200. Singles from the album were successful in Britain, America and Australia: "Some Might Say" and "Don't Look Back in Anger" reached number one in the UK; "Champagne Supernova" and "Wonderwall" reached number one on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart; and "Wonderwall" topped the Australian and New Zealand singles charts.

Although a commercial smash, the record received lukewarm reviews from mainstream music critics, with many contemporary reviewers deeming it inferior to Definitely Maybe. In the ensuing years, however, critical consensus towards the album generally turned, and it is now considered by many to be a seminal record of the Britpop era. The band did an extensive world tour in support of the album over several months in 1995 and 1996. The most notable of the band's concerts were two performances at Knebworth House in August to a combined crowd of 250,000 people. The album was honoured as the Best British Album at the 1996 Brit Awards. It has sold approximately 22 million copies worldwide. It won the award for the best British Album of the last 30 Years at the 2010 Brit Awards, and appears on several lists as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Definitely Maybe Album by Oasis

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Definitely Maybe is the debut album by English rock band Oasis, released in August 1994. It was an immediate commercial and critical success in the UK, having followed on the heels of singles "Supersonic", "Shakermaker" and "Live Forever".

Definitely Maybe went straight to number one in the UK Albums Charts on initial release. It was the fastest selling debut album of all time in the UK when it was released and went on to be certified 7x Platinum (2.1 million+ sales) by the BPI.Definitely Maybe marked the beginning of Oasis' success in America, selling over one million copies there, despite only peaking at 58 on the Billboard 200. The album went on to sell over eight million copies worldwide and brought widespread critical acclaim.

The album, along with Blur's Parklife, helped to spur a revitalisation in British pop music in the mid nineties and was embraced by critics for its optimistic themes and supposed rebuttal of the downtrodden fatalism evident in the dominant grunge music of the time. It was a seminal record of the Britpop movement and still appears in many 'best of' lists to this day. In June 2006, the NME named it as the greatest album of all time.

Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as The Rain, the group was formed by Liam Gallagher (vocals and tambourine), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums, percussion), who were soon joined by Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar and vocals).

Oasis evolved from an earlier band called The Rain, composed of Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Tony McCarroll (drums) and Chris Hutton (vocals). Unsatisfied with Hutton, Arthurs auditioned acquaintance Liam Gallagher as a replacement. Liam suggested that the band name be changed to Oasis. This change was inspired by an Inspiral Carpets tour poster that hung in the Gallagher brothers' bedroom. One of the venues the poster listed was the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, Wiltshire.

After over a year of live shows, rehearsals and a recording of a proper demo (known as the Live Demonstration tape), the band's big break came in May 1993 when they were spotted by Creation Records co-owner Alan McGee. Oasis were invited to play a gig at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut club in Glasgow, Scotland, by a band called Sister Lovers, who shared their rehearsal rooms. Oasis, along with a group of friends, found the money to hire a van and make the journey to Glasgow. When they arrived, they were refused entry to the club as they were not on that night's set list, which reportedly caused the band to bully their way in (although both the band and McGee have given contradicting statements about how they actually managed to get into the club on that night). They were given the opening slot and impressed McGee, who was there to see 18 Wheeler, one of his own bands, that night. McGee was so impressed by what he saw he signed the band to Creation four days later. Due to problems securing an American contract, Oasis ended up signing a worldwide contract with Sony, which in turn licensed Oasis to Creation in the UK.

Oasis did not associate themselves with the Britpop movement and were not invited to perform on the BBC's "Britpop Now" programme introduced by Blur singer Damon Albarn. On 14 August 1995, Blur and Oasis released new singles on the same day, setting up "The Battle of Britpop" that dominated the national news. Blur's "Country House" outsold Oasis' "Roll with It" 274,000 copies to 216,000 during the week. Oasis' management came up with several reasons for this, claiming "Country House" sold more because it was less expensive (£1.99 vs £3.99) and because there were two different versions of "Country House" with different B-sides forcing serious fans to buy two copies. An alternative explanation given at the time by Creation was that there were problems associated with the barcode on the "Roll with It" single case, which did not record all sales. Noel Gallagher told The Observer in September that he hoped Damon Albarn and Alex James of Blur would "catch AIDS and die", which caused a media furore. He subsequently apologised for this in a formal letter to various publications.

Bassist Paul McGuigan briefly left the band in September 1995, citing nervous exhaustion. He was replaced by Scott McLeod, formerly of The Ya Ya's, who was featured on some of the tour dates as well as in the "Wonderwall" video before leaving abruptly while on tour in the US. McLeod later contacted Noel Gallagher claiming he felt he had made the wrong decision. Gallagher curtly replied "I think you have too. Good luck signing on." To complete the tour, McGuigan was successfully convinced to return to the band.

Oasis were due to record an episode of MTV Unplugged at the Royal Festival Hall but Liam pulled out, citing a sore throat. He watched the performance from a balcony with cold beer and cigarettes, heckling Noel's singing between songs. Four days later the group left for a tour of American arenas but Liam refused to go; the band decided to continue the tour with Noel on vocals. Liam rejoined the tour on 30 August, and on 4 September 1996, Oasis performed "Champagne Supernova" at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Liam made gestures at Noel during his guitar solo, then spat beer all over the stage before storming off. A few weeks later Noel flew home without the band, who followed on another flight. This event prompted media speculation that the group were splitting up. The brothers soon reconciled and decided to complete the tour.

In early 1999, the band began work on their fourth studio album. First details were announced in February with Mark "Spike" Stent revealed to be taking a co-producing role. Things were not going well and the shock departure of founding member Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs was announced in August. This departure was reported at the time as amicable, with Noel stating that Arthurs wanted to spend more time with his family. Arthurs' statement clarified his leaving as "to concentrate on other things". However, Noel has since offered a contradicting version: that a series of violations of Noel's "no drink or drugs" policy (imposed by Noel so that Liam could sing properly) for the album's sessions resulted in a confrontation between the two. Two weeks later the departure of bassist Paul McGuigan was announced. The Gallagher brothers held a press conference shortly thereafter where they assured reporters that "the future of Oasis is secure.

The now three-piece Oasis chose to continue recording the album, with Noel Gallagher re-recording most of Arthurs' guitar and McGuigan's bass parts. After the completion of the recording sessions, the band began searching for replacement members. The first new member to be announced was new lead/rhythm guitarist Colin "Gem" Archer, formerly of Heavy Stereo, who later claimed to have been approached by Noel Gallagher only a couple of days after Arthurs' departure was publicly announced. Finding a replacement bassist took more time and effort. The band were rehearsing with David Potts, but he quickly resigned, and they brought in Andy Bell, former guitarist/songwriter of Ride and Hurricane No. 1 as their new bassist. Bell had never played bass before and had to learn to play it, (with Noel since saying that Liam said "if he can play the guitar, he can play the fookin' bass.") along with a handful of songs from Oasis' back catalogue, in preparation for a scheduled tour of America in December 1999. With the folding of Creation Records, Oasis formed their own label, Big Brother, which released all of Oasis' subsequent records in the UK and Ireland.

While touring in Barcelona in 2000, Oasis were forced to cancel a gig when an attack of tendinitis caused Alan White's arm to seize up, and the band spent the night drinking instead. After a row between the two brothers, Noel declared he was quitting touring overseas altogether, and Oasis were supposed to finish the tour without him. Noel eventually returned for the Irish and British legs of the tour, which included two major shows at Wembley Stadium. A live album of the first show, called Familiar to Millions, was released in late 2000 to mixed reviews.

In late summer 2002, whilst the band were on tour in the US, Noel, Bell and touring keyboardist Jay Darlington were involved in a car accident in Indianapolis. While none of the band members sustained any major injuries, some shows were cancelled as a result. In December 2002, the latter half of the German leg of the band's European tour had to be postponed after Liam Gallagher, Alan White and three other members of the band's entourage were arrested after a violent brawl at a Munich nightclub. The band had been drinking heavily and tests showed that Liam had used cocaine. Liam lost two front teeth and kicked a police officer in the ribs, while Alan suffered minor head injuries after getting hit with an ashtray. Two years later Liam was fined around £40,000. The band finished their tour in March 2003 after returning to those postponed dates. Liam Gallagher said Oasis began recording a sixth album in late December 2003 with producers Death in Vegas at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall. The album was originally planned for a September 2004 release to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the release of Definitely Maybe. However, long-time drummer Alan White, who at this time had played on nearly all of the band's material, left the band in early January 2004. At the time, his brother Steve White stated on his own website that "the spirit of being in a band was kicked out of him" and he wanted to be with his current girlfriend. White was replaced by Zak Starkey, drummer of The Who and the son of The Beatles' Ringo Starr. Though Starkey performed on studio recordings and toured with the band, he was not officially a member and the band were a four-piece for the first time in their career. Starkey played publicly for the first time at Poole Lighthouse.

In May 2008, Zak Starkey left the band after recording Dig Out Your Soul, the band's seventh studio album. He was replaced by former Icicle Works drummer Chris Sharrock on their tour and like Zak, Chris was not an official member of the band and Oasis remained as a four-piece.

In June 2008, the band re-signed with Sony BMG for a three-album deal. Oasis recorded for a couple of months in 2007 between July and September—completing work on two new songs and demoing the rest. They took a two-month break, because of the birth of Noel's son. The band re-entered the studio on 5 November 2007 and finished recording around March 2008 with producer Dave Sardy.

On 7 September 2008 while performing at Virgin Festival in Toronto, a member of the audience ran on stage and physically assaulted Noel. Noel suffered three broken and dislodged ribs as a result from the attack, and the group had to cancel several shows while he recovered.

On 28 August 2009, following a fight between the Gallaghers in a backstage area, which reportedly resulted in Liam breaking Noel's guitar, the group's manager announced the cancellation of their concert at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris just minutes before it was about to begin, along with the cancellation of the European tour and a statement that the group "does not exist anymore".

Two hours later a statement from Noel appeared on the band's website writing that "with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer". The rest of the band have since continued their career in the band Beady Eye, while Noel ventured into a solo project eponymously called Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

On 16 February 2010, Oasis won the award for Best Brit Album of the Last 30 Years at the 2010 BRIT Awards. Liam Gallagher collected the award alone, before presenting his speech. His speech thanked Bonehead, McGuigan and Alan White but not his brother, Noel. Liam threw his microphone and the band's award into the crowd. On 15 March 2010, Liam defended his actions at the awards ceremony, saying "I'm sick of it all being about me and Noel, the last couple of months has pretty much been all about me and him so I thought it was only right to mention the other lads who played on the album and the best fans in the world." and "I thought it was a nice gesture to give this to the fans, obviously it was misinterpreted as per usual." about throwing the award.

Oasis were most heavily influenced by The Beatles, an influence which was frequently labelled as an "obsession" by the British media. In addition, members of Oasis have cited The Stone Roses, The Bee Gees,T. Rex, Sex Pistols, Slade, Small Faces, The Who, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, The Stooges, The La's, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, R.E.M., Humble Pie, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, The Kinks, The Jam, Pink Floyd, The Verve, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Talking Heads, and The Smiths as an influence or inspiration.

Legal action was taken in the case of Neil Innes (formerly of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and The Rutles) who sued after the song "Whatever" borrowed from his "How Sweet to Be an Idiot". He was awarded royalties and a co-writer credit. Noel Gallagher claimed in 2010 that the plagiarism was unintentional and he was unaware of the similarities until informed of Innes's legal case. Oasis were also sued by Coca-Cola and forced to pay A$500,000 in damages; When asked about the incident, Noel Gallagher joked "Now we all drink Pepsi." "Shakermaker" allegedly lifted words and melody from "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing".

Many bands and artists have cited Oasis as an influence or inspiration, including The Killers, Arctic Monkeys,[not in citation given] The Enemy, Elliott Smith, Lily Allen, Maroon 5, The View, Hurts, Coldplay, The Strokes, The Coral, Ryan Adams, The Kooks, The Rifles, The Pigeon Detectives, Keane and Kasabian.

No Way Sis were a cover band from Glasgow who had a top 40 hit in the UK with "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" a cover of the New Seekers song sung in the manner of Oasis. The Japanese band Little by Little derived their name from the Oasis song of the same name.

Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich of Incubus

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

George Alex Katunich (born August 18, 1976) is the former bassist of Incubus.

Since high school, Alex went by the stage name of Dirk Lance which was apparently taken from the credits of an anonymous '70s porn flick. He stayed with Incubus on bass guitar for over 11 years until he left the band in 2003.

In 2008, Katunich came back to the spotlight with Stickman Entertainment, which creates videogame music.

Ben Kenney of Incubus

Benjamin Lee "Ben" Kenney, Sr. (born on March 12, 1977), is a musician from Brielle, New Jersey, and the bassist for the band Incubus.

Ben Kenney played guitar for the hip-hop group The Roots before he joined Incubus in 2003 after the departure of bassist and founding member Alex Katunich aka Dirk Lance. He had previously played with Incubus members Mike Einziger and Jose Pasillas in Time Lapse Consortium.

Ben is known to play at least six different instruments and sometimes plays drum duets with Incubus' drummer Jose Pasillas live on-stage.

He has also done studio work for artists including: Justin Timberlake, Faith Evans, Erykah Badu, Blackalicious, and producers Timbaland and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Ben Kenney started off in a New Jersey band called Racecar in 1994 with band members Jimmie Mueller and Sam Hoffman.

Jose Pasillas II of Incubus

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

José Antonio Pasillas (born April 26, 1976) is an American drummer known as the drummer of alternative rock band Incubus.

José Pasillas is of Mexican descent. He grew up in Calabasas, California. He began playing drums in 1990. Later in 1991, José and friends Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, original bassist Dirk Lance (Ben Kenney joined in 2003 upon Lance's departure) began Incubus in high school in the San Fernando Valley outpost of Calabasas. He endorses DW drums and Sabian cymbals.

José has mentioned he has never had any formal training for the drums, which he says has positives and negatives. Some of his influences include Chad Sexton of 311, Stewart Copeland of The Police, and Tim Alexander of Primus.

Before dedicating himself full-time to Incubus, he was a full-time art student (as was Brandon), and he continues to create designs in his free time.

Mike Einziger of Incubus

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Michael Aaron Einziger (born June 21, 1976 in Los Angeles, California) is a Grammy-nominated musician known as the co-writer and guitarist of the alternative rock band Incubus. Einziger is widely known as an innovator and enthusiast of the use of pedalboard guitar effects during live concerts, and was voted #41 in Total Guitar's top 100 guitarists of all time in 2002.

Einziger fashions a sonic tapestry that draws heavily from the Zappa/Vai/Hendrix school of rock."

Mike is also an active composer, writing his first full-scale orchestral concert entitled "End.>vacuum", as well as "Forced Curvature of Reflective Surfaces"; an experimental composition that was featured at the "West Coast, Left Coast" Festival at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Einziger is currently enrolled as a student at Harvard University.

Outside of his work with Incubus, Einziger founded his own project Time Lapse Consortium in 2003. The group featured Incubus musicians Jose Pasillas II and Ben Kenney (who was not a member of Incubus at the time), Neal Evans of the band Soulive, and long-time collaborator Suzie Katayama contributing string arrangements.

In 2007, Einziger produced Nighttiming, the debut album of long-time friend and former Phantom Planet drummer and actor Jason Schwartzman's Coconut Records project.[4] The album featured appearances by Kirsten Dunst, Zooey Deschanel, and Robert Schwartzman, and was recorded at Einziger's own home studio in Malibu, CA.

Einziger began crafting an orchestral composition “End.>vacuum” following surgery in March 2007 for Carpal tunnel syndrome, a repetitive-strain injury to his left wrist undoubtedly due to a lifetime of playing guitar. The condition forced him to take a hiatus from the band and his instrument. It would be the longest he’d ever gone without playing, and enabled him to follow some other musical, as well as outside, interests.

Einziger has a profound interest in the physical sciences. In 2008 he contributed to an article on the topic of human evolution with evolutionary biology figure and Brown University professor Dr. Kenneth Miller.

Mike has cited his early guitar influences as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, and Frank Zappa. He claims "infatuation" with Björk's voice. Mike was also heavily influenced by the music of Black Sabbath and Metallica.

As of 2012, Mike is engaged according to his Twitter account.

Brandon Boyd of Incubus

Brandon Charles Boyd (born February 15, 1976, in Van Nuys, California) is an American musician, author, and visual artist. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band Incubus.

Boyd graduated from Calabasas High School in 1994 and attended Moorpark College for two years before committing to Incubus. Brandon grew up in Calabasas, CA with Ricky Taylor who inspired him to write music. His parents, Priscilla "Dolly" Wiseman and Charles Boyd, both of whom had experience in entertainment, had nurtured his artistic side since he was a child. Other musical family members include his younger brother, Jason Boyd, the former lead singer of the band Audiovent, cousin Sam Boyd, a songwriter and touring musician, as well as cousin Robert "Berto Chico" Boyd, an accomplished Flamenco guitarist.

Boyd designed concert fliers advertising their early performances. At first, Boyd had copied several drawings from a sex education book that Einziger's mother had given them, but he decided to stop using it after several prospective fans had been confused by their fliers ("What kind of band is this?"). Boyd is also known for playing several instruments such as the didgeridoo and djembe.

Brandon Boyd has written two books. The first, written in 2003, was White Fluffy Clouds: Found Inspiration Moving Forward. It was published by Endophasia Publications and mainly consists of his artwork, photography, song lyrics from Incubus, and additional writings and thoughts. His more recent publication, From the Murks of the Sultry Abyss, was also published by Endophasia in 2007.

In recent years, Brandon Boyd has focused on making fine art, specifically painting, and on September 8, 2008 celebrated the opening of his first solo show, titled "Ectoplasm," at Mr. Musichead Gallery in Los Angeles, California.

Boyd is known for his wide variety of tattoos. On his forearms he carries the widely known Buddhist mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, referring to the qualities of generosity, ethics, patience, diligence, renunciation and wisdom. Underneath that is a koi fish in red ink designed by friend and bandmate, José Pasillas. On the inside of his right arm he has several tattoos, one once again incorporating the Tibetan mantra and another designed after Sarah Kerrigan[citation needed]. Following the release of their album "A Crow Left of the Murder," he got an elaborate back tattoo featuring the common image of the All Seeing-Eye embedded in a pyramid. He also has a tattoo of the Eye of Horus on his right ankle. Other tattoos include his parents' names (Priscilla and Charles) on his forearms, an owl on his back, one teardrop on his index finger on both hands, and a picture inspired by Aubrey Beardsley's famous art, "The Peacock Skirt", on his left arm.

Brandon Boyd has reportedly dated models and personalities such as Jessica Miller, Baelyn Neff, Vanessa Marra, Lisa Snowdon, Carolyn Murphy, and Jo Bourne-Taylor.

Light Grenades is the sixth studio album by alternative rock band Incubus, released on November 28, 2006 on Epic Records. The album sold 359,000 copies during its first week of release worldwide, mostly in the United States.

Light Grenades debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 165,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week; it is the band's first number one album. However, Light Grenades also holds the dubious honor of having the title of the biggest drop from No. 1 in chart history, falling from No. 1 to No. 37 in its second week on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and breaking the record set by Marilyn Manson's The Golden Age of Grotesque, which fell from No. 1 to No. 21 in 2003. The album has since gone gold in the US, selling 845,000 copies there.

Incubus

Incubus photo: incubus incubus.jpg

Incubus is an American rock band from Calabasas, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas while enrolled in Calabasas High School and later expanded to include bassist Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich, and Gavin "DJ Lyfe" Koppell; both of whom were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and DJ Kilmore respectively.

Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, If Not Now, When?, was released on July 12, 2011.

Incubus was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, bassist Alex Katunich and drummer Jose Pasillas, while the members were in high school. They existed as a band for some time before they gave themselves a name, having only chosen the band's name 'Incubus' when required to supply a band name for an upcoming show.

Over the course of their career, Incubus has utilized elements from a variety of genres and styles, including alternative rock alternative metal, art rock, heavy metal, electro, funk, funk metal, jazz, hip hop, nu metal, pop, rap metal, techno, thrash metal, post-grunge, and trip hop. With many critics praising the band's ambition, it has also made them difficult to correctly classify. The band has issued a wide variety of instruments into their music that are not traditionally associated with use in rock music, including a djembe, sitar, didgeridoo, and bongos on many of their earlier tracks and during live performances, and with the use of a pipa given to the band by rock musician Steve Vai which is played by Einziger in the song "Aqueous Transmission". Incubus influences include Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus and Rage Against the Machine.
